The DSFUSA Online Farmdog Database is open! There are currently a little over 200 Danish-Swedish Farmdogs listed in our database and a few registered users. Feel free to sign up as a user and explore our FREE database. If your dog is already in it, please check to see that information is accurate and please update it if it is not. Accurate information will benefit all Farmdog Families utilizing this database. We hope you will help us gather as much accurate information as possible!

We welcome Farmdog entries from all over, and plan to add a feature for calculating inbreeding coefficients. We are working with our friends in Scandinavia to share database information as well.

<![CDATA[First Danish-Swedish Farmdog UKC Champion]]>Thu, 24 Feb 2011 09:05:47 -0800http://farmdogsusa.com/3/post/2011/02/first-danish-swedish-farmdog-ukc-champion.htmlPicture
On Saturday, February 19, 2011, the first Danish-Swedish Farmdog was awarded a United Kennel Club (UKC) Championship in the USA.

Stolta Ebbas Einride of Sweden, also known as Jet, has been attending various UKC Conformation shows over the last year. This month he received his last win in competition and was awarded the New Champion designation at the show.

UKC has different championship criteria than do AKC and ARBA. In UKC, to obtain a championship, a dog must acquire 100 points and 3 wins in competition. The points are awarded to the dog based on their placements, such as best of breed, best male, etc. The wins in competition must be received when they place higher than another dog in the lineup. Since Jet was the only Danish-Swedish Farmdog competing in the show, he was able to get placements in the Terrier Group for his three wins in competition.

Jet is still a little young and needs to have a bit more Spring of Ribs as is defined in the standard, but he's doing well, and he's now a UKC Champion!

<![CDATA[The Danish-Swedish Farmdog is on the AKC-FSS Web Site!]]>Tue, 01 Feb 2011 10:25:53 -0800http://farmdogsusa.com/3/post/2011/02/the-danish-swedish-farmdog-is-on-the-akc-fss-web-site.htmlPicture
On January 13, 2011, we announced that the Danish-Swedish Farmdog has been accepted into the AKC Foundation Stock Service Program. We are also excited to see, today, that lady Flora now appears on the AKC-FSS website as an official AKC Foundation Stock Service Breed!

This is wonderful news! US Born Danish-Swedish Farmdogs are now recognized by an FCI kennel club. The AKC has a reciprocity agreement with the FCI, so that AKC-FSS pedigreed dogs may show and breed in FCI member countries. Prior to this acceptance, US Born Farmdogs were not members of the world dog community. Now they are!

View the AKC-FSS page all about Danish-Swedish Farmdogs by clicking here.

The Farmdogs are represented by miss Flora, the first DSF imported into the USA by Melody Farquhar-Chang of Kennel Flora, for the purpose of beginning a DSF breeding program in the USA. We are all proud, and a bit teary-eyed, to see Flora on the AKC-FSS web page!

<![CDATA[AKC-FSS Acceptance!]]>Thu, 13 Jan 2011 06:54:10 -0800http://farmdogsusa.com/3/post/2011/01/akc-fss-acceptance.htmlOn January 13, 2011, DSFUSA received confirmation from Mari-Beth O'Niell that the Danish-Swedish Farmdog had passed muster with the AKC Board of Directors, and the breed has been accepted as an AKC Foundation Stock Service Breed!

This is great news! Because of the small number of Danish-Swedish Farmdogs in the USA, it is important to have pedigrees which are recognized world wide. The only dog club in the USA which is recognized world wide is the American Kennel Club (AKC).

With this step being complete the US-Born Danish-Swedish Farmdog is assured their place in the world. AKC Pedigrees give the US-Born Farmdog the documentation they need to show in conformation events in all other FCI Member Countries, as well as be bred with dogs of all other FCI Member Countries.

It's a huge step for our US breeding programs! We encourage all Farmdog owners in the USA to register for FSS status with the AKC. Registration forms are available from the AKC-FSS page of this website. Check back soon for more information regarding AKC-FSS.
